First, you will need to have those cleaning supplies ready. Lucky for you they are easy to make with things that you might already have in your kitchen cabinets. 


Make Your Own Cleaning Supplies:


Detergent Solution: 1 teaspoon clear dish detergent for every 1 cup of water

Vinegar Solution: 1/2 cup white vinegar for every 1/2 cup of water

Ammonia Solution: 1 tablespoon ammonia per 1/2 cup of water


How to Get Wine and Coffee Stains Out of Carpets and Rugs

When you get in too much of a hurry and spill your coffee or wine, follow these steps to get the stain out:


  1. Use paper towels to soak up as much of the spill as possible.
  2. Spray the stain with the detergent solution and dab the stain with a clean rag.
  3. Spray the stain with the vinegar solution and dab with a clean rag. 
  4. Spray the stain with water, then use a clean rag to damp and dry the stain. 
  5. Repeat these steps as necessary

How to get Paint Stains Out of Carpets or Rugs

When painting a new room in your home, you can be super careful and still end up with wet paint on your rug or carpet. Don’t worry, when this happens act fast and follow these steps:


  1. Scrape the excess paint off your rug or carpet with a spoon or knife.
  2. Dab the remaining paint with a wet rag.
  3. Spray the stain with the vinegar solution and dab with a clean rag.
  4. Spray the stain with the detergent solution and dab dry with a clean rag. 
  5. Repeat these steps as necessary. 

How to Get Ink Stains Out of Carpets 


  1. Soak up excess liquid with paper towels
  2. Spray the detergent solution on the stain and dab dry with a clean rag.
  3. Spray the ammonia solution on the stain and dab dry with a clean rag.
  4. Spray the vinegar solution on the stain and dab dry with a clean rag. 
  5. Repeat these steps as necessary.
